City Council Members welcome Magic Johnson HIV Testing Van to SA

AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s (AHF) Magic Johnson mobile HIV-testing van will partner with the San Antonio AIDS Foundation (SAAF) and Walgreens providing free rapid HIV testing January 28th and 29th. Recognizing the importance that San Antonians need to know their HIV status, City Council Members Jennifer Ramos, District 3 and Philip Cortez, District 4 will be present at 3:00 pm on the 28th at the Walgreens at S Flores and SW Military. The message is: are you positive, you’re negative. The Council Members know that the earlier one tests and receives care, the healthier they will stay and not unknowingly infect others.

Testing will take place inside the van both the 28th and 29th in two Southside Walgreens of San Antonio for easy accessibility. Rapid testing is oral (bloodless) and provides results in 20 minutes. SAAF case managers will be present to assist those testing positive with appropriate medical referrals.

In an effort to promote HIV testing across the country, on a route covering more than 17800 miles, AIDS Healthcare Foundation will visit 48 states from California to Washington, DC and collaborate with local community organizations, such as SAAF, with HIV testing events to promote the importance of being tested for HIV.
