Short-Term Transitional Housing

San Antonio AIDS Foundation’s (SAAF) short-term transitional housing program is located at 424 E. Carson

Only a short walking distance from SAAF, the facility houses a total of 20 men, women and transgender formerly homeless clients at any given time, and is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, year round.

The mission of the program is to allow homeless individuals living with HIV/AIDS to reside in a comfortable, home-like environment for up to three months, providing them the opportunity to move beyond their present situation and achieve residential stability. Clients admitted to program can be referred from any variety of AIDS service or social service organizations, such as prison discharge units, hospital discharge units, drug treatment programs, etc. The facility is wheel-chair accessible.

Among the services that SAAF’s short term transitional housing program provides are:

  • Linens and toiletries are stocked for all in need.
  • Three hot, nutritious meals daily in SAAF’s congregate dining room (hot meal program).
  • Monthly VIA bus passes
  • Laundry room
  • Access to SAAF’s fully stocked clothing room
  • In-house case managers to assist residents with long-term housing goals and support.
  • Regular educational training sessions on topics such as nutrition, money management and HIV/AIDS.
  • Access to individual and group mental health and substance abuse counseling
